Levorg Design - Toyota influence?

Here's a question for you. As a new UK Levorg owner I have my eyes peeled to see another one, and I keep getting false positives.

The culprit? Toyota Corolla Estate rear end.

So, how much of the Subaru design is influenced or shared with Toyota? Is it just a "Japanese" design thing, or do Toyota and Subaru collaborate?

Hear me out - here is a corolla rear end. I'm not going to "side by side" it with my car, because they are obviously different, but you can forgive me for looking twice, right?

The late 90's Toyota Caldina GT estate was extremely close looking to a Subaru Impreza 5 door estate. Even to having a 2.0 petrol engine driving all wheels. My cousin when I was in Jamaica a couple of years ago still had his, although I suspect that he'll have scrapped it by now, it had potentially expensive transmission issues the last time that I saw it. Toyota and Subaru had been sharing at least electrical components before the official merger. Likewise Subaru was part owned by both Nissan and General Motors in the past.
