Replacing Steering wheel bottom plate to STI

I’m trying to replace the original front face plate to sti. I have followed this YouTube vid but am still not able to remove the black plastic backing to access the screw that holds the Silver plate in.

I assume this is because of the paddle shifters? What else do I need to remove?

Yea it has turned into quite the project lol. But don’t mind learning how to pull things apart

How did you get on? I'm going to upgrade my wheel but would rather swap the bits over at home, rather than send the wheel off to be swapped.
